Job Description

Job Summary:

The Coordinator-Performance Improvement organizes and coordinates performance improvement program activities and workflow.


  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary team on problem identification and resolution, cost containment issues, implementation of new services and systems/ performance measures.

  • Researches, develops/acquires and implements improvement systems, methodologies and tools to improve operations.

  • Collaborates with Leaders to develop and revise screening indicators.

  • Provides on-site training and follow-up for performance improvement teams.

  • Serves as an advisor, providing technical support and consultation to medical staff and administrative leadership in designing, developing, planning, and implementing initiatives that improve the quality of service provided, reduce the level of resources utilized, and improve overall organizational performance.

  • Designs and implements measurement studies for the identification, validation, and analysis of performances improvement issues. Reviews and analyzes data to prepare clear and concise reports to identify opportunities for improvement. Acquires referencing information for benchmarking and prioritizing improvement iniatives.

  • Provides administrative support for medical staff department committees. Coordinates and completes action and follow up dictated PI initiatives of departments and committees, informs and advises department of performance improvement requirements, regulatory agency requirements and hospital standards.

  • Coordinates the focus, analysis, development, and evaluation of performance improvement projects, in conjunction with the medical staff, as required by accrediting bodies or as determined to be a priority for performance improvement by the medical staff and/or organization.



  • Required Credential(s):

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure by the State of Michigan Board of Nursing required.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required or equivalent combination of education and quality assessment experience required

Work Experience:

  • 2 years of inpatient clinical nursing experience, including 1 year in a position of independent decision making, managing many issues concurrently such as a management performance improvement position.
