The Respiratory Therapist-CRT provides evaluation of and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies.
Delivers and assesses response to ordered therapy per plan of care. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition.
Evaluates respiratory practice, administration of medications and treatment based on patient outcomes.
Responds to emergency resuscitation team calls.
Educates the patient and family about the patient's health condition and provides information about community support groups and other resources.
Implements, monitors and adjust invasive and noninvasive ventilation as needed
Performs and evaluates Arterial/Capillary/Cord Blood Gases
Performs cardiac monitoring and diagnostic testing (EKG, holter monitoring). Must have knowledge of basic EKG rhythm and abnormal EKG patters noting patient symptoms and notifying appropriate personnel
Responsible for the direct/indirect supervision of respiratory technicians with core and advanced skills and supervision training of respiratory students
Advanced Life Support obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
One or more of the following:
Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
Certified Respiratory Therapist credentialed from the Michigan Board of Respiratory Care obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
2 Year College Degree
Associates degree required; Bachelor degree preferred Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care program and Previous clinical experience preferred
