Job Description

Serve as an integral member of the executive leadership team. Responsible for the development of Ascension Living’s (AL) sales and marketing strategies such that budgeted and sustained occupancy is achieved at or above industry average in Ascension Living communities. This position also coordinates with Ascension Health communications strategies, contributing to the success of Ascension Living’s organizational strategic planning and growth initiative.

Develop and oversee implementation of a comprehensive and proactive marketing and sales strategy, and ensure accountability for results that will meet or exceed Ascension Living’s lead generation and occupancy objectives. Responsible for establishing the sales training program and materials; delivering ongoing training, coaching and support; and development of the tools and their use in reporting to ensure ongoing accountability.

In conjunction with Ascension Communications Ministry Wide Function (MWF), responsible for the strategic development of Ascension Living’s brand identity and its integration and alignment throughout Ascension Living. Ensure the development of an effective communications plan for Ascension Living, directly managing communications activities that promote, enhance, and protect the organization’s brand reputation and is in alignment with Ascension Health. Assist in providing oversight of vendors who are responsible for Ascension Living’s varied and integrated communications products and services including: newsletters and other print publications; web, e-news and other digital communications; other media and public relations, at both a corporate and community level.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Sales and Marketing:

  • Oversees Regional sales team and leads the implementation of key processes and strategies that remove barriers for new admissions into our communities

  • Develops and maintains cooperative and collaborative relationships with local, regional, and national organizations including Ascension Health and Ascension Health acute care partners, agencies, and other providers to create a clinically integrated system of care for continuum partners and referral sources and to enhance the provision of resident care and services

  • Develops, analyzes and evaluates both existing and emerging sales and marketing strategies, resulting in sustained occupancy at or above budget in the ministries.This includes development of an annual sales and marketing plan for each ministry

  • Implements key admission and referral follow-up processes that are necessary to achieve occupancy goals and promote a culture of accountability amongst community sales leaders

  • Develops benchmark criteria to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of sales and marketing strategies, processes and programs as well as team member performance.

  • Apply research and analysis of economic and industry trends to determine Ascension Living’s competitive place in the market and to develop winning strategies.Maintain knowledge of all markets including competition and real estate trends

  • Through matrix reporting structure, oversees the sales and marketing teams at each of Ascension Living’s ministries and corporate officesto ensure all have a clear understanding of goals and objectives, marketing efforts and community branding

  • Establish a formalized training program with associated tools and collateral to ensure all associates are properly trained and meet all performance expectations

  • Ensure that effective sales and marketing policies, procedures, and standards are in place, and through matrix reporting, support accountability for their use and implementation

  • Identify and establish best practices, assuring their integration and alignment throughout the ministries

  • Ensure that all marketing, sales and communications strategies are congruent with Ascension Living and Ascension Health’s brand identity

Communications:

  • Oversee the Ascension Living Sr. Director of Marketing and Communications in implementing marketing and communications strategies that are industry leading, yet connect to Ascension branding initiatives

  • In consultation with Executive Leadership Team and Ascension Health, and utilizing third parties, partner with the Ascension Communications MWF to develop and implement an integrated communications and public relations strategy geared towards cultivating and enhancing meaningful relationships with targeted external audiences, including the media and key influencers

  • In coordination with the Ascension and Ascension Living communications teams, help guide the process to define Ascension Living’s unique brand, in collaboration with Executive Leadership and Ascension Health Communications

  • Ensure that effective communication policies, procedures, and standards are in place, and through matrix reporting, support accountability for their use and implementation ultimately driving the communication around our value proposition to prospects and new residents

  • Assist as a communications counselor to Ascension Living leadership; developing and preparing key messaging and presentation material for Ascension Living leadership

  • Partner with the Ascension Communications WWF in the development of all Ascension Living print communications, including the annual report, marketing collateral, and electronic communications, including Ascension Living’s newsletter, website and new media

  • Actively engage and cultivate press relationships and vendors to ensure coverage surrounding Ascension Living ministries and initiatives.Assist in developing a system-wide crisis communication plan that aligns with Ascension Health’s plan

  • Increase Ascension Living’s visibility and presence through participation at ministry and key industry events and conferences

  • Collaborates with Human Resources to ensure effective standardized and consistent recruiting, compensation, and staff development programs are in place to provide and retain qualified associates and to move toward the establishment of a high reliability organization

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Management Responsibilities

  • Coaches and provides career development to staff

  • Coordinates with Human Resources for appropriate staffing levels

  • Establishes employee goals and conduct employee performance reviews

  • Responsible for staff scheduling to include: work assignments, employee training, time off, breaks and overtime assignments

  • Schedules and conducts department meetings

  • Supervises staff in accordance with Ascension Living policies and procedures

Eucation and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required, with a preference in business, communications or marketing.In lieu of degree, 10+ years of relevant experience

  • Advanced professional preparation MBA, MHA or comparable degree highly desired

  • Minimum ten years’ experience in marketing, sales and communications with five years in a senior leadership role of a multi-site Senior Care organization

  • Experience with all the components of Senior Care including: CCRC, IL, Assisted Living, MC, SNF, and PACE preferred

  • Successful track record in developing and implementing a successful marketing and sales strategy. Ability to provide documentation of previous successes

  • Demonstrated experience and leadership in delivering a comprehensive lead-generating and sales-achieving strategic (communications, media relations, marketing and sales) program to advance the organization’s mission and goals
