Job Description

Job Summary:

The Polysomnographic Technologist performs basic and advanced diagnostic sleep studies.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares patient and equipment for ordered testing. Interviews patient to determine sleep disorder issues and to explain testing procedures.

  • Performs and documents testing. Monitors patient throughout testing and intervenes as necessary to resolve patient needs or equipment issues.

  • Scores, interprets and reports results of sleep studies.

  • Prepares, calibrates, repairs and maintains equipment required for testing. Determines and reports needed repairs/replacements.

  • All other duties as assigned.

  • Educates patients on sleep disorders and treatment options.

  • Perform ancillary duties including but not limited to; filing, faxing of reports, archiving of records, maintain supplies, and phone communication and other responsibilities as assigned by coordinator.

Qualifications

Licenses/Certifications/Registration:

  • Required Credential(s):

  • Certified BLS Provider obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

  • Registered Sleep Technician specializing in Polysomnography credentialed from the Board of Registered Polysomnograhic Technologists (BRPT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education:

  • Associate Degree

  • Associate's degree required Graduate of an accredited polysomnographic technology or respiratory program Associates hired prior to November 1, 2014 will be grandfathered with existing education and experience and No experience required.
