Job Description

Job Summary:

The Performance Improvement Spec organizes and coordinates performance improvement program activities and workflow.


  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary team on problem identification and resolution, cost containment issues, implementation of new services and systems/ performance measures.

  • Researches, develops/acquires and implements improvement systems, methodologies and tools to improve operations.

  • Collaborates with Leaders to develop and revise screening indicators.

  • Provides on-site training and follow-up for performance improvement teams.

  • Collects, evaluates, and maintains practitioner-specific data concerning physician and allied health staff practices and performance and enters all into appropriate systems/database.

  • Facilitates medical staff peer review processes to include case assignments, collaboration with chair & committee, agendas, minutes, and subsequent ongoing communications to practitioners.

  • Assists in the review and validation of physician profiles/feedback reports; facilitates needed analysis with department chairs, when warranted.

  • Collects and enters data for Core Measures and other regulatory/mandated metrics for hospital performance improvement and provides support for hospital quality & patient safety processes in accordance with the annual plan and regulatory and accreditation standards related to performance improvement. Also performs all other duties as assigned.



  • Required Credential(s):

  • Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Michigan Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

  • Preferred Credential(s):

  • Certified Quality Professional specializing in Healthcare.


  • Bachelor's Level Degree

  • Associates degree required Bachelor's degree preferred and Minimum of two years progressive experience in management or as a performance assessment and improvement professional.
