Job Description

Oversees the overall management of nursing practice, nursing education and professional development, nursing research, nursing administration and nursing services.

Responsibilities:

It is expected that all of the duties and responsibilities will be performed in a manner which reflects the core values of Ascension: Service of the Poor, Reverence, Integrity, Wisdom, Creativity, and Dedication

  • Collaborates with Ascension leadership and medical staff to identify and develop new patient care programs, policies and procedures.

  • Proven success developing and implementing a program to measure, assess and improve the quality of nursing care provided by the organization.

  • Ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations related to nursing services and healthcare.

  • Assures continuity and consistency of nursing care standards and practice across Ascension.

  • Develops and implements Ascension nursing policies, objectives, and initiatives.

  • Reviews nursing department operations to ensure compliance with established standards.

  • Using a high level of financial acumen, oversees productivity, operations, budget, and financial targets

  • Ensures that all patients receive the highest quality care.

  • Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.

  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

  • Provides consultation on complex projects and is considered to be the top level contributor/specialist.

Qualifications

Licenses/Certifications/Registration:

  • Required Credential(s):

  • Licensed Registered Nurse obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

  • Preferred Credential(s):

  • Nurse Executive.

Education

Bachelor's degree in a related field, or combination of High School degree and related experience required

Master's degree in a related field highly preferred

Work Experience:

  • 3 Years Required Technical Experience.

  • 5 Years Preferred Technical Experience.

  • 1 Year Preferred Leadership/Mgmt. Experience.

  • Experience with Magnet Certification process preferred
