Assists patients/families in navigating the room service program.
Interprets and explains nutrition services policies, procedures and philosophies to patients/families. Directs questions to appropriate resources as requested. Assists patients/families in navigating the room service program.
Explains menu choices to patients. Assists patient with meal selections based on their prescribed therapeutic diet. Completes meal selection and report generation. Discusses nourishments with patients integrating their preferences when possible.
Assists with investigations of food service problems and/or concerns that arise. Assists with problem resolution including follow up with patient and family.
Visits patients as they progress through the hospital. Reports need for immediate service recovery to supervisor who monitors customer service and patient satisfaction.
Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, performs duties related to the preparation, delivery and all aspects of direct meal service to patients, staff and guests. These may include but are not limited to taking inventory and maintaining records, stocking food and supplies, food preparation, setup and service, transport of food and supplies, cleaning and sanitizing all equipment and work areas.
Prepare, deliver, collect, review daily patients' menus to ensure selections are in accordance with patients' prescribed diets.
May interact with Nursing staff to ensure patients' diet prescriptions are accurate, patients' food needs are met, and patient diet records are maintained. Assists Dietitian with monitoring patients who are NPO, or on liquid diets, or on calorie count orders.
Exhibits friendly, caring attitude when introducing patients to the "Catering to You" program, taking menu selections, delivering trays, inquiring during catering rounds and retrieving trays.
Regularly uses reading skills to read and accurately interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals. Uses writing skills to write accurate reports and correspondence. Uses English language, listening, speaking and communication skills to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations with patients, their families and associates. Consistently demonstrates ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Regularly and accurately uses mathematic computations to add, subtract, divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; computes portion and service guidelines for modified diets; applies knowledge of weights and measures. Accurately counts inventory and reliably identifies discrepancies in received versus ordered stock.
Demonstrates discretion and ability to apply common sense understanding to reliably carry out verbal and written instructions. Ability to deal effectively with problems involving variables in routine situations.

HS or Equivalent
High School diploma or equivalent from an accredited program required and 1 year in local ministry food service or equivalent experience in similar customer food service position. Must have thorough experience and familiarity with modified diet restrictions for patient meal preparation. Additional experience/training required. Must achieve and maintain 95% score on "Catering to You" competency modules within 30 days of hire.
