Job Description

Job Summary:

Takes radiologic films providing quality images to physicians to aid in the diagnosis of medical problems.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and positions patients for x-rays and selects exposure factors accurately.

  • Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.

  • Observes patient during procedure and reports abnormal activity. Monitors protocols and recommends updates or refinements as warranted.

  • Follows radiation safety procedures and guidelines. Prevents patient from being exposed to unnecessary radiation.

  • In smaller clinics, the Rad Tech may have accountabilities related to phlebotomy, patient check in and other customer service duties.

  • Aforementioned qualifications approved by the CSM Medical Staff Council on May 14, 2014.

Qualifications

Licenses/Certifications/Registration:

  • Required Credential(s):

  • BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

  • Licensed Radiology Technician obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

  • Radiologic Technologist credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education:

  • Diploma

  • Graduate of an accredited education program, or US Military training program (prior to December 31, 2014), in Radiography required by hire date or job transfer. Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Work Experience:

  • Previous work experience preferred.
