The Technician-EEG, performs diagnostic electroencephalograph (EEG) testing.
Attaches, connects, and operates electrodes from specified body areas to leads from electroencephalograph machine.
Reviews patient's record and instructs patients prior to procedures. Monitors patient during procedures and reports any abnormal findings.
Identifies and corrects for artifacts. Edits and forwards results to attending physician for analysis and interpretation.
Maintains EEG equipment and supplies.
Prepares facilities in accordance with procedural requirements; calibrates equipment and prepares medicine and materials as required; cleans and disinfects equipment in accordance with sterile procedures and standards.
Prepares patient for procedures as appropriate to requirements; explains procedures to patients and positions patients as appropriate to prescribed procedure; assists patients at end of procedure.
Determines appropriate methodology and techniques to use in administering procedures; calibrates sand adjusts equipment as appropriate; arranges immobilization and/or support devices for proper patient positioning; adjusts shields; selects appropriate devices/equipment.
Operate electroencephalographs to measure and record the electrical activity of brain waves via electrodes secured to patient's scalp.
Perform EEG tests when requested by a physician.
As part of the testing process gather a patient's medical history, explain testing procedures and prepare patient for the procedure.
