Job Description

Job Summary:

The Exercise Physiologist, implements and supervises physical exercise programs for patients.


  • Provides patient testing and assessment before and after rehabilitation.

  • Plans and teaches exercise therapy for patients utilizing test data, patient status and current medication regimen. Monitors patient's response and revises plan accordingly.

  • Recognizes contraindications and abnormal patient responses to exercise. Responds appropriately to all situations including exercise cessation and referral to medical professionals.

  • Provides exercise information for patients, peers and the community which may include public speaking and education classes.

  • Collaborates with physician regarding the exercise prescription for each patient. Maintains in-depth knowledge of monitoring and arrhythmia identification.

  • Preperation of report on individual patient to appropriate physician. Appropriately charts progress in Medical Records. Maintains appropriate documentation of patient care.

  • Develops and maintains in-depth knowledge of the departmental equipment. Maintains equipment in optimal functioning condition in accordance with manufactures guidelines. provide staff with educational in-service for proper and safe use of equipment.

  • Other Duties as assigned



  • Required Credential(s):

  • One or more of the following:

  • Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Red Cross obtained within 2 Months (60 days) of hire date or job transfer date.

  • Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 2 Months (60 days) of hire date or job transfer date.

  • Preferred Credential(s):

  • Advanced Life Support.

Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's Level Degree. BS in Exercise Physiology / Sciene or related degreeMS preferred

  • Basic monitor interpretation skills and must successfully pass dysrhythmia class within 3 months of hire.ACSM Clinical Certification Preferred.
