Job Description

Job Summary:

The Ascension Technologies Director of Strategic Account Management (SAM), is the leader and key executive relationship person for Ascension Technologies SAM at a ministry location(s). The Director has day to day responsibility for establishing and maintaining local relationships of executives and leadership within the Ministry, keeping them informed of priority IS work that Ascension Technologies is doing on behalf of the ministry. The Director will foster good will and excellent customer service by being transparent in communications regarding all Ascension Technologies activities that concern both local and national initiatives. The Director will lead IS planning efforts with the local Ministry and communicate the local plan with National Ascension Technologies. The Director is also accountable for overseeing all Ascension Technologies activities that occur within the Ministry even though Ascension Technologies Product and Service Teams are accountable for execution of those services. The Director will foster a “One Ascension” attitude for all of Ascension Technologies and broader Ascension. The Director will be the face of SAM locally and needs to be able to interact effectively with all levels of leadership within the Ministry.


  • Develops departmental goals, plans and standards consistent with the technological, clinical, administrative, legal and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.

  • Plans, organizes and directs all activities related to staffing, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions and continuing education initiatives.

  • Prepares departmental budgets and ensures the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.

  • Directs and evaluates all departmental activities including research, design and development of new technologies, service level determination and complaint management.

  • Establishes strategic direction and oversight in order to ensure that project resources will be optimized and priorities continuously reviewed.

  • Establishes processes to ensure that the organization is continually aware of the activities of competitors and the industry in general.

  • Ensures that projects are in place to meet business needs quickly and efficiently. Ensures alignment of technology strategy and plans with business plans and operational needs

  • Develops partnership with senior management. Works with other senior managers and senior users in strategic technology issues. Provides technology leadership for a broad technology discipline.



  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience.

Work Experience:

  • Five years of progressively responsible experience and three years of leadership required.

Preferred experience:

  • Worked in large multi-site healthcare organization

  • Successful in highly matrixed environments

  • Proven successful relationship management
