Job Description

Job Summary:

Registration Liaison, performs clerical and reception duties associated with patient registration.


  • Greets patients and visitors, responds to questions/concerns and directs them to appropriate location. Provides on-going communication with clinical staff regarding patient status.

  • Collects and enters all necessary demographic, clinical, billing and insurance information from patients or responsible parties.

  • Explains processes and forms to patients prior to securing signatures and ensures that all documents are properly signed and witnessed as required.

  • Determines and accepts required payments, including co-pays and deductibles.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Adheres to the departmental policy for Verification of Patient Demographic and Insurance Information, including EVS (Eligibility Verification System) and/or EMDEON. Utilizes the Meditech or ED MSM Tracking System and Process Orders, according to established procedures.

  • Reviews referrals and physician orders to ensure proper order entry.

  • May perform Short Form Registration on all ED Ambulance patients and all ED Walk-In patients at the ED Greeters Desk in the Waiting Room Area according to established procedures.

  • May assist with pre-registration, patient registration, appointment confirmation, insurance requirements and verification, and guest relations. May perform a wide variety of concierge duties which may include staffing the Information Desk in the Main Lobby, assisting patients/guests to point of service or destination, acting as a liaison between patients/guests and clinical staffs in the Emergency Department and other clinical departments.


Education and Work Experience:

  • HS or Equivalent

  • Required: High school diploma or equivalent Preferred: Associates Degree

  • Required: 30 WPM typing speed. Preferred: One year experience in customer service or medical environment.
