Job Description

Job Summary:

The Surgical Technologist facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares surgical operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.

  • Hands required and requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery.

  • Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.

  • Maintains instruments in an organized manner and monitors and tracks instruments counts throughout procedures.

  • Assists surgeons provision of hemostasis during surgery.

  • May participate in the training of new associates.

Qualifications

Licenses/Certifications/Registration:

  • Required Credential(s):

  • Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date. Associates working at St Elizabeth’s in Wabasha, MN are not required to have BLS.

  • Preferred Credential(s):

  • Certified Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).

Education:

  • HS or Equivalent

  • Completion of a Surgical Technologist program or extensive experience required

Work Experience:

  • One (1) year of related experience preferred. CV surgical tech experience highly preferred.
