Job Description

Job Summary:

The Accounts Receivable Denial Representative prepares and completes claims for commercial insurance companies, third party organizations and/or government or self payers while ensuring proper adequate and timely billing to ensure prompt payment.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and transmits patient claims in the appropriate claim format according to guidelines.

  • Coordinates and validates claims transmitted to ensure edit criteria is met.

  • Takes appropriate action to follow up when claims fail edits.

  • Maintains detailed documentation in the patient account record of all billing activities.

  • Maintains documentation of claims processed as part of the daily claims reconciliation process.

  • Consults with appropriate personnel to resolve unbilled claims.

  • Reviews recent accounts for proper billing practices and reimbursement.

  • Effectively utilizes system tools to identify and resolve AR denials and other problems with individual claims.

  • Researches, analyzes and reconciles Medicare/Medicaid billing and reimbursement practices.

Qualifications

Education:

  • HS or Equivalent

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required, Associate's Degree preferred

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year medical billing in acute care or ambulatory care setting or medical billing certification from an approved program, required.Prior experience in physician office operations, preferred.Prior experience in physician revenue cycle claim creation and resolution, preferred.
