The Reg Respiratory Therapist provides evaluation of and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies.
Assesses patient for appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develops a plan of care based on diagnosis.
Implements and monitors patient care plan. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition. Performs advanced respiratory care modalities.
Evaluates respiratory practice, administration of medications, and treatment based on patient outcomes.
Educates the patient and family about the health condition and provides information about community support groups and other available programs.
Is an essential member of the high reliability team; reports errors/problems that occur in patient care & testing; will work on teams as needed to develop new processes that reduce/eliminate errors
Advanced Life Support obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
Certified BLS Provider obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
Licensed Respiratory Therapist credentialed from the New York Department of Education obtained within 60 Months (5 years) of hire date or job transfer date. Previous experience as a Licensed Respiratory Therapist preferred. NYS Respiratory Therapy Tech can be accepted in lieu of Respiratory Therapist
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred.
Education & Work History:
- AAS OR BS RESPIRATORY THERAPY DEGREE; NYS LICENSE; BLS, ACLS, NRP, AND PALS CERTIFICATIONS (IF NOT CURRENT WILL HAVE UP TO 6 MONTHS TO COMPLETE
